Tanjiro Kamado, at night in the forest, his head raised, on the alert, Demon Slayer

Demon Slayer alarm clock and night light: which to choose?

In short

For the bedroom, the section offers twenty Demon Slayer projection alarm clocks at €44.90, which display the time and temperature and project the time onto the ceiling. For lighting, acrylic night lights from €34.90 to €49.90, light-up frames from €54.90 to €79.90, two lit figures and two decorative lamps up to €169.90. The alarm clock is for getting up, the night light for falling asleep without fear of the dark, the lamp for showing off a room. Here is how to choose.

A Kasugai crow, messenger of the Demon Slayer Corps, perched on a branch at night, Demon Slayer

In Demon Slayer, almost everything happens at night. Demons flee the sun, so demon slayers live to their rhythm: they set off on missions at dusk, fight until dawn and sleep when they can. Their alarm clock is a talking crow, which shouts mission orders and calls them back to order when they dawdle. At home, a more discreet alarm clock will do, and a small light will help the youngest face the dark.

This guide reviews the alarm clocks, night lights, light-up frames and lamps in the section, with what each model does, the space it needs and the budget. Other ideas for the home are in our guide to Demon Slayer bedroom decor, and all our buying advice is on the shop’s guides and advice page.

Alarm clock, night light or lamp: which to choose?

The first question is simple: what is the item for? An alarm clock sits on a bedside table and can be checked at night at a glance, thanks to the time projected on the ceiling. A night light gives off a soft light, dim enough to sleep, present enough to reassure. A light-up frame or a lamp is first of all a decorative item, switched on in the evening on a shelf or a desk.

The second question is age. For a child learning to tell the time or afraid of the dark, the alarm clock and the night light are the most useful. For a teenager or an adult who wants to show off their collection, the frames, light-up figures and lamps have more character. The table sums up the section’s offer.

The alarm clocks are gathered in the Demon Slayer alarm clock collection, the night lights, frames and lamps in the Demon Slayer lamp and night light collection.

Getting up or falling asleep

The alarm clock is for getting up, the night light for falling asleep without fear of the dark, the lamp for showing off a room.

The projection alarm clock, what it does

The twenty alarm clocks in the section share the same casing: 10 cm high on an 8 cm square base, a blue backlit screen that displays the time and the room temperature, and an alarm. A projector on top casts the time in red onto the ceiling, so you can read it at night without lifting your head from the pillow. A button makes it announce the time aloud, and the display switches between 12-hour and 24-hour mode.

The alarm clock runs on a USB cable. So plan a socket near the bed, or a USB mains adapter if you do not already have one. The advantage of a plug-in alarm clock is that it never stops for lack of batteries. The drawback is that it must be placed near a socket: measure the distance between the bedside table and the wall before choosing the spot.

The projection works best in a dark room and under a light ceiling. In a child’s bedroom, it quickly becomes a game: the time appearing on the ceiling helps them understand it is still too early to get up. For a teenager, the voice announcement saves switching on the light or looking at their phone in the middle of the night.

The temperature display has its uses too. A room that is too warm harms sleep, and keeping it at around 18 or 19 °C is often recommended. A glance at the alarm clock in the evening tells you whether to turn down the radiator or open the window a little. In summer, the same display shows whether the room has had time to cool before bedtime.

Finally, the alarm clock has the advantage of getting the phone out of the bedroom. A child or a teenager who wakes up with a real alarm clock no longer needs to keep their screen near the bed, which limits evening temptations. For many parents, that is the deciding argument.

Twenty alarm clocks, two series

The twenty alarm clocks are divided into two series. Seven feature a character in a name card, with their given name in ideograms at the bottom of the medallion: Tanjiro, Nezuko, Zenitsu, Inosuke, Giyu, Rengoku and Shinobu. This is the series to choose for a child who has a favourite character all their own.

A Kasugai crow with a purple scarf, one of the Demon Slayer Corps’ messengers, Demon Slayer

The other thirteen feature a scene. The night group, Tanjiro leaping sword in hand, Nezuko above him, Inosuke and Zenitsu on either side. The trio on the attack, the trio and Nezuko, Rengoku and the trio, the logo with Nezuko. Then alarm clocks devoted to a single character in their setting: Tanjiro and his checkerboard, Nezuko in close-up or on her pink patterns, Zenitsu in the lightning or with his sparrow, Inosuke under the wisteria, Shinobu among the butterflies, and an awkward Tanjiro in a comic scene.

The alarm clock with Zenitsu and his sparrow has a funny story. In the series, Zenitsu calls his bird Chuntaro, while its real name is Ukogi. Our article on the animals of Demon Slayer presents the sparrow, the messenger crows and Obanai’s snake, and our Zenitsu Agatsuma Demon Slayer collection gathers the items of the thunder boy.

The acrylic night lights

The engraved night light is a transparent acrylic plate, laser-engraved, set on a light base. Switched off, you can barely see it. Switched on, the light runs through the lines and the drawing appears. The colour comes entirely from the base and is changed with the remote control, among sixteen shades, from red to purple. Fourteen designs are offered at €39.90, and the base alone is sold at €34.90 if you want to put another plate on it.

The sixteen colours recall a detail of the series. In Demon Slayer, a demon slayer’s blade changes colour at the first touch of their hand, and the shade announces the breathing style they will practise. You can thus set the night light to Giyu’s blue, Zenitsu’s yellow or Mitsuri’s pink. For a Tanjiro fan, whose blade is black, red rather recalls the scarlet blade he obtains at the end, or the flames of the Dance of the Fire God. Our article on the colours of Nichirin swords tells what each colour reveals.

Zenitsu Agatsuma, eyes bulging, screams in terror on Mount Natagumo, Demon Slayer

The printed night light is different. The acrylic figure is printed in solid colours and cut to the character’s outline, with no rectangular border around it. It stands on a base that lights it from the edge. Three characters, Tanjiro, Nezuko and Zenitsu, and two bases, one black, the other imitating cracked stone: six versions from €39.90 to €49.90. Zenitsu’s model has something funny about it, since he is the most terrified character in the whole series.

Between the two, the difference lies in the effect you are after. The engraved night light changes atmosphere every evening, according to the chosen colour, and stays discreet once switched off. The printed night light shows the character in colour, even when off, and also serves as a small figure on a shelf. For a child who wants to see Nezuko or Tanjiro at any hour, the second makes more of an impression; for a soft, changing atmosphere, the first.

The light-up frames

The light wood light-up frame holds a backlit illustration that takes on its full depth once switched on. It plugs in by USB, switches on with a switch on the cable or a remote control, and sits on a bedside table, a shelf or a desk. Eleven designs are offered, from €54.90 to €64.90 depending on the model. The main design shows Tanjiro in the foreground and Rengoku behind him, both in flames.

The large 30 x 40 cm frame, at €79.90, is another piece altogether. Its black box, a few centimetres deep, layers several sheets of illustration that are offset to create depth. Tanjiro takes the centre in a circle of fire, a mosaic of characters runs down the sides, and two red eyes dominate the top of the frame. It stands or hangs on the wall, and makes the effect of a small lit painting in a teenager’s bedroom.

For the walls, our guide to Demon Slayer posters and tapestries presents other ways to dress a room, and our Demon Slayer poster section gathers the posters.

Light-up figures and decorative lamps

Two figures are mounted on a lit base. Mitsuri, 21 cm, caught in full movement, her whip blade unfurled around her, with translucent pink effects lit from below, at €54.90. Akaza, on guard, fists clenched, on a round base engraved with a large snowflake that the light runs through in blue or red, at €64.90. The snowflake comes from his technique: Akaza makes snow crystals appear on the ground when he fights.

Mitsuri Kanroji, the Love Hashira, launched at full speed in the Swordsmith Village, Demon Slayer

The ring lamp places a painted figure under a flowering branch, backlit by a light ring. Five versions: Nezuko under a red maple at €89.90, Tanjiro at €99.90, Nezuko under a cherry tree, Zenitsu and Inosuke at €119.90. Each character is seated, as if resting between two missions, which rarely happens in the series. The resin lamp, finally, at €169.90, is the most upmarket model: a 13 cm block of deep blue resin, set on a raw wood base, in which Tanjiro is frozen at the centre of an orange crescent of fire.

These two lamps belong in a display case or on an adult’s desk. Our guide to Demon Slayer figures compares all the figures, and our Demon Slayer figure section gathers them.

Choosing the character

Tanjiro is the most present character in this section. He has his name card, his checkerboard alarm clock, a comic scene where he looks awkward, a printed night light, the main light-up frame, a ring lamp and the resin lamp. For a fan of the hero, the choice is wide at every budget. Our Tanjiro Kamado Demon Slayer collection gathers all his items.

Nezuko follows closely, with her name card, a close-up alarm clock, another on her pink patterns, her printed night light and two ring lamps, under a red maple or under a cherry tree. She is often the youngest children’s favourite character, and our Nezuko Kamado Demon Slayer collection gathers her items. Zenitsu has three alarm clocks, a night light and a ring lamp, Inosuke two alarm clocks and a ring lamp.

The Hashira are fewer but well represented. Giyu, Rengoku and Shinobu each have their name card, Shinobu an alarm clock among the butterflies, Rengoku an alarm clock with the trio. Mitsuri has her light-up figure, and Akaza his, the only demon in the section. Our page on the Demon Slayer Hashira presents the nine, and our page on all the Demon Slayer characters helps you choose the one for the bedside.

If you hesitate, the group alarm clocks settle the question: the night group, the trio on the attack or the trio and Nezuko suit a child who loves the whole gang. They also make good gifts for a brother and sister who share the same bedroom and do not have the same favourite character.

For a child’s bedroom

A child afraid of the dark sleeps better with a soft light and a character they love. The engraved night light is the best suited: the light is dim, the colour can be set to what they prefer, and the remote control lets them switch it off themselves. Choose a red or an orange for the night, more soothing than a bright blue. Nezuko’s or Tanjiro’s printed night light is also suitable, with a warmer light coming from the base.

Nezuko Kamado, shrunk down, pokes her head out of her wooden box in the dark, Demon Slayer

The projection alarm clock helps them learn the time. Explain to the child that the time on the ceiling must show seven o’clock before getting up, and the alarm clock becomes a landmark. For the youngest, prefer a name card or a bright scene, Nezuko, the trio or Zenitsu and his sparrow, rather than the darker close-ups. Our page on Demon Slayer for children gives guidelines by age.

Finally, think about safety: run the USB cables along the wall, away from the bed, and keep the figures and lamps high up, out of reach of the little ones. The figure lamps are display items, not toys. Our guide to Demon Slayer gifts for children by age offers other suitable ideas.

Where to put them and how to plug them in?

All the items in the section plug in by USB or cable. Before ordering, locate the sockets in the room: a bedside table far from a socket will need an extension lead, and a high shelf a long enough cable. A multi-port USB mains adapter lets you plug the alarm clock and the night light into the same socket.

The alarm clock goes within reach, with the screen facing the bed and the projector clear towards the ceiling. The night light is better placed high up, on a chest of drawers or a shelf, to spread its light around the whole room without dazzling. Frames and lamps go where you see them as you walk in: opposite the door, on a desk or in a display case.

Keep a reasonable distance between the alarm clock and the ceiling so the projected time stays sharp: on an ordinary bedside table, it can be read without difficulty. Finally, avoid putting night lights and lamps in full sun, behind a window: acrylic and resin do not take prolonged exposure well, and printed colours end up fading. Our page on the Demon Slayer universe presents the world all these scenes come from.

To put together a whole bedroom, alarm clock, night light, throw and curtains can take up the same character. Our guide to Demon Slayer throws presents the throws and wearable blankets, and the one on Demon Slayer curtains the blackout curtains for total darkness.

Budget and delivery

The smallest budget in the section is the engraved night light’s base alone, at €34.90, then the complete night light and the printed night light, from €39.90 to €49.90. The wooden frames cost €54.90 to €64.90, the alarm clocks €44.90. The light-up figures cost €54.90 and €64.90, the large frame €79.90, the ring lamp €89.90 to €119.90 and the resin lamp €169.90.

For a child’s gift, an alarm clock at €44.90 or a night light at €39.90 is sure to please and is used every day.
