Demon Slayer watch order: seasons, movies, voices and theme songs
In short. To watch Demon Slayer in order: season 1, then the Mugen Train as a movie or in its series version, the rest of season 2 with the Entertainment District, season 3 and the Swordsmith Village, season 4 and the Hashira Training, and finally Infinity Castle, part 1, released in 2025. The 2023 and 2024 compilation movies are optional. Two movies are still to come to conclude the story.

一 The right order
The order to watch Demon Slayer
The anime follows the order of the manga, with no flashbacks between seasons. The only possible hesitation concerns the Mugen Train, which exists both as a movie and as a series: just pick one of the two versions.
-
1
Season 1
26 episodes, released in 2019: from the Final Selection to the Rehabilitation Training.
-
2
The Mugen Train
The 2020 movie, or episodes 1 to 7 of season 2 aired in 2021: Rengoku, Enmu and Akaza. The series version adds a new episode; either one is enough.
-
3
Season 2, episodes 8 to 18
Aired from 2021 to 2022: the Entertainment District.
-
4
Season 3
11 episodes, released in 2023: the Swordsmith Village.
-
5
Season 4
8 episodes, released in 2024: the Hashira Training.
-
6
Infinity Castle, part 1
The movie released in 2025, which opens the final battle.
-
7
Infinity Castle, parts 2 and 3
The rest and the end of the story, with no date announced.
Release dates in Japan, checked on September 14, 2026. The 2023 and 2024 compilation movies, which reuse existing episodes, are not necessary if you follow the series.
二 TV series
The seasons of Demon Slayer one by one
The TV series has 63 episodes spread across four seasons, all produced by studio ufotable. Each one adapts one or more arcs of the manga, detailed on our page covering every arc of the story.
Studio ufotable, previously known for its Fate adaptations, has handled the animation since the first episode, under the direction of Haruo Sotozaki. Its blend of traditional drawing and digital effects gives the breathing styles their highly recognisable look, with waves and flames reminiscent of Japanese woodblock prints.
Season 1 (2019)
Aired from April to September 2019, it follows Tanjiro from the massacre of his family to his recovery at the Butterfly Mansion, by way of Mount Natagumo. Its episode 19, where Tanjiro rediscovers the Dance of the Fire God against Rui, remains one of the most famous moments of the anime.
Season 2 (2021 to 2022)
It opens with the series version of the Mugen Train, in seven episodes including a new one centred on Rengoku, then follows with eleven episodes devoted to the Entertainment District, where Tengen Uzui and the trio face Daki and Gyutaro. Aired from October 2021 to February 2022.
Season 3 (2023)
Eleven episodes, from April to June 2023, for the Swordsmith Village: Tanjiro, Muichiro Tokito and Mitsuri Kanroji defend the village against two Upper Moons. The season opened with a one-hour special episode and ended with a 70-minute episode.
Season 4 (2024)
Eight episodes, from May to June 2024, for the Hashira Training, the last arc before the final battle. Tanjiro goes from Hashira to Hashira, which makes it the calmest season before the storm. It ends with Muzan’s arrival at the Ubuyashiki mansion and every character falling into the Infinity Castle.
三 Depending on your profile
Series or movies: where to start
You are new to the series
Start with season 1
It sets up the universe, the rules of the breathing styles and the characters, and the pace picks up markedly from Mount Natagumo onwards. The movies are not watched separately: the Mugen Train directly follows season 1, and Infinity Castle assumes you have seen all four seasons.
You have read the manga
The anime is still well worth it
For its fights, its music and the added scenes, like the new episode devoted to Rengoku at the start of season 2. And for a written summary of each arc before starting an episode, our page on the arcs does the job in a few minutes.
四 In cinemas
The Demon Slayer movies
The Mugen Train
A direct sequel to season 1, the movie was released in Japan on October 16, 2020 and became the biggest success in the history of the Japanese box office there, bringing audiences back to cinemas in huge numbers in the middle of the pandemic. It tells the story of Rengoku and the trio’s mission aboard the train.
The series version aired in 2021 covers the same arc with a new opening episode and a few added scenes: either one is enough.
The compilation movies
Released on February 3, 2023, the first one brings together the last two episodes of the Entertainment District and the first episode of the Swordsmith Village. The second, released on February 2, 2024, does the same with the end of the Swordsmith Village and the start of the Hashira Training. They mainly served to keep fans waiting in cinemas before each new season.
Infinity Castle, part 1
Announced at the end of season 4, the trilogy adapts the manga’s penultimate arc, too dense for a regular season. The first part was released in Japan on July 18, 2025, with the best opening day in the history of the Japanese box office, then in France on September 17, 2025. It covers the beginning of the arc, up to the fight against Akaza.
Parts 2 and 3
As of September 14, 2026, no release date has been announced for the two movies that will conclude the story. This page will be updated as soon as it is announced.

六 Dubbing
French dub or subtitles: the voices of Demon Slayer
The original Japanese version brings together several of the best-known voices in animation. The French version is complete and carefully made, with one notable change: Tanjiro’s voice changes from season 3. Here are the main roles.
| Character | Japanese voice | French voice |
|---|---|---|
| Tanjiro Kamado | Natsuki Hanae | Enzo Ratsito (seasons 1 and 2, movie), then Martin Faliu |
| Nezuko Kamado | Akari Kitô | Margaux Maillet |
| Zenitsu Agatsuma | Hiro Shimono | Maxime Baudouin |
| Inosuke Hashibira | Yoshitsugu Matsuoka | Christophe Lemoine |
| Giyu Tomioka | Takahiro Sakurai | Juan Llorca |
| Shinobu Kocho | Saori Hayami | Nadine Girard |
| Kyojuro Rengoku | Satoshi Hino | Adrien Antoine |
| Tengen Uzui | Katsuyuki Konishi | Gilduin Tissier |
| Mitsuri Kanroji | Kana Hanazawa | Catherine Desplaces |
| Muichiro Tokito | Kengo Kawanishi | Clément Moreau |
| Gyomei Himejima | Tomokazu Sugita | Marc Bretonnière |
| Sanemi Shinazugawa | Tomokazu Seki | Damien Ferrette |
| Sakonji Urokodaki | Hôchû Ôtsuka | Éric Herson-Macarel |
| Kagaya Ubuyashiki | Toshiyuki Morikawa | Bruno Choël |
| Muzan Kibutsuji | Toshihiko Seki | Lionel Tua |
Each character has a profile in our directory of Demon Slayer characters, and the hero has his own page: everything about Tanjiro Kamado.
The choice between the French dub and the subtitled original is a matter of taste. The original version lets you hear the battle cries and the names of the forms as the Japanese actors performed them; the French version makes the story more accessible to younger viewers and to those who prefer not to read subtitles during the fights.
音 Music
The theme songs and the music
The soundtrack is by Yuki Kajiura and Go Shiina, for the series as well as the movies. The theme songs, for their part, made LiSA and Aimer voices associated with the series.
Gurenge, the first opening, became one of LiSA’s biggest hits; she came back for the Mugen Train movie with Homura, then for Infinity Castle. Aimer took over for the Entertainment District, before also returning for the trilogy.

| Season or movie | Titles | Performers |
|---|---|---|
| Season 1 | Gurenge (opening), from the edge (ending) | LiSA; FictionJunction feat. LiSA |
| Season 1, episode 19 | Kamado Tanjirô no Uta | Go Shiina feat. Nami Nakagawa |
| Mugen Train, movie | Homura | LiSA |
| Season 2, Mugen Train | Akeboshi | LiSA |
| Season 2, Entertainment District | Zankyôsanka, Asa ga Kuru | Aimer |
| Season 3 | Kizuna no Kiseki, Koi Kogare | Man with a Mission and milet |
| Season 4 | Mugen, Tokoshie | My First Story and Hyde |
| Infinity Castle, part 1 | Taiyô ga Noboranai Sekai, Zankoku no Yoru ni Kagayake | Aimer; LiSA |
If you have seen the whole series, nothing else is needed to follow Infinity Castle.
七 Catching up
What to rewatch before Infinity Castle
For a quick refresher, two moments matter more than the others to understand the final battle: Rengoku’s death against Akaza on the Mugen Train, which explains Tanjiro’s hatred for this demon, and the end of season 4, when Muzan finally finds the Ubuyashiki mansion.
For those in a hurry, the summaries of arcs 7 to 10 let you catch up on the story in a few minutes, without spoiling what comes next in the fortress.
The demons the heroes face in the fortress are presented on our page about Muzan and the demon Moons, and the Hashira who lead the assault in our guide to the nine Hashira.
八 For what age

63 episodes across four seasons: 26, 18, 11 and 8. On top of that come the Mugen Train movie, two compilation movies and the Infinity Castle trilogy.

When is the rest of Infinity Castle coming out?
As of September 14, 2026, no date has been announced for parts 2 and 3.
Is Demon Slayer available in French?
Yes. Every season and movie has been dubbed in French. Tanjiro’s voice changes from season 3: Enzo Ratsito, then Martin Faliu.
Where can you read what happens after the anime?
Season 4 stops at chapter 139 of the manga. The volumes and where to pick up reading are detailed on our page about the Demon Slayer manga and its volumes.
