Tanjiro Kamado, his hands joined, under an icy waterfall, the first exercise of Gyomei’s training, Demon Slayer

The demon slayers of Demon Slayer do not go to the beach. Their only swim is an exercise: during the Hashira Training, Gyomei makes them pray under an icy waterfall until they no longer feel the cold. Your summer will be gentler, and the section lets you take your characters to the water’s edge, on a swimsuit, swim shorts, a light cape or a towel spread out on the sand.

This guide helps you choose among the swimwear and towels in the section: cuts, sizes, haori capes, towels and their formats, care after swimming and budget. Other summer ideas are in our guide to Demon Slayer caps and beanies, and all our buying advice is on the shop’s guides and advice page.

What the section offers

The swimwear section brings together ten pieces with very different cuts, designed for very different people. The women’s swimsuits range from two-piece to one-piece with ruffles, with sizes going up to 5XL, which is rare for printed swimsuits. The swim shorts dress men and children. The haori capes, finally, are worn over a swimsuit to cover up between two swims.

The towels form a section of their own: eighteen beach towels, all made the same way, and a hand towel for the home. The table sums up the offer.

Up to 5XL

Printed swimsuits often stop at XL: here, several models go up to XXXL, and one one-piece swimsuit up to 5XL.

Two-piece swimsuits and bikinis

The €29.90 two-piece swimsuit combines a racerback crop top and matching shorts, which cover the top of the thigh and stay in place in the water. Five characters to choose from, Tomioka, Shinobu, Nezuko, Tanjiro and Zenitsu, each recognisable from a distance by the fabric of their haori, and six sizes from S to XXXL on the same cut. It is the sportiest model in the section, as comfortable at the pool as on the beach.

The €44.90 bikini has a triangle top tied behind the neck and at the back, and side-tie bottoms. The ties absorb some of the differences in body shape, which explains the range of its sizes, from XXS to XXL. Its triangles are lined to avoid see-through once the fabric is wet, a point on which printed bikinis often fail. Five characters: Nezuko and her hemp leaves, Shinobu, Zenitsu, Giyu and Tanjiro.

The high-waisted swimsuit, at €64.90, stands out from the other two-pieces by its high-rise bottoms, which make it wearable out of the water, and by a matching sarong on two of its four versions. Four characters, Nezuko, Rengoku, Tanjiro and Zenitsu, in five sizes from S to XXL, given in centimetres: S corresponds to a waist of 66 to 69 cm and hips of 91 to 94 cm, XL to a waist of 88 to 93 cm and hips of 112 to 118 cm.

The hemp leaf of Nezuko’s kimono returns on several models: it is a repeating pattern that can be cut anywhere without losing anything. Our article on Nezuko’s kimono and asanoha pattern tells what it means.

One-piece swimsuits

The €29.90 one-piece swimsuit is the most inclusive in the section: nine sizes, from XS to 5XL, a range few printed swimsuits offer. Its cut with wide straps and a low racerback stays well in place, and its print covers the whole garment. Four haori to choose from: Shinobu, Tanjiro, Nezuko and Tomioka. For someone who struggles to find a swimsuit in their size, it is the model to look at first.

The four-outfit swimsuits, at €49.90, offer a different cut for each character, Shinobu, Zenitsu, Tanjiro and Nezuko, with contrasting ruffles at the shoulders or waist, in six sizes from S to XXXL. The pattern of each outfit stays readable at ten metres, wet and in motion, where a printed portrait would get lost.

The ruffled one-piece swimsuit, at €69.90, is the dressiest: ruffles at the shoulders and on the hips, a low back held by three straps, three patterns to choose from, Nezuko, Shinobu and Tanjiro. Its five sizes, from XS to XL, are given with the recommended height: XS for 150 to 155 cm, S for 155 to 160, M for 160 to 165, L for 165 to 170, XL for 170 to 180.

Swim shorts, for the whole family

Muichiro’s board shorts, at €39.90, have a long cut that comes down to just above the knee, lower than ordinary swim shorts, and a print that covers the whole piece, crotch and waistband included. Their fourteen sizes range from 100 cm for a child to 4XL for an adult, which lets you dress a whole family in the same pattern. The extra length mainly makes a difference in comfort when sitting on the sand.

Muichiro Tokito, the Mist Hashira, with a grave look, in the forest, Demon Slayer

The €39.90 swim shorts have a white background cut by two black diagonal bands at the bottom of the legs, and the character 殺, “kill”, printed on the thigh, with a white flower below: the contrast between violence and gentleness that runs through the whole series. They have an elastic waist and thirteen sizes, from 100 cm for a child to 4XL, the adult sizes being given by weight, from XXS for 35 to 40 kg to 4XL for 100 to 110 kg.

The character 殺 is the one Sanemi wears on the back of his haori, in place of the uniform’s 滅. Our article on Sanemi Shinazugawa, the Wind Hashira tells about this uncompromising Hashira, and our Muichiro Tokito Demon Slayer collection gathers the items of the Mist Hashira.

The chiffon haori capes

The two haori capes are not swimsuits: they are open garments, with no button or fastening, which you slip on over a swimsuit and let float. Cut from light, sheer chiffon, they take up the cut of the original haori, open at the front, wide sleeves, mid-thigh length. They protect the shoulders from the sun between two swims and dress up a swimsuit for a drink by the sea.

Kyojuro Rengoku, the Flame Hashira, his flame haori in the wind, Demon Slayer

Each cape takes up a character’s fabric, without a face. Shinobu and her butterfly wings in a pink and mint gradient veined with black, Rengoku and his flames rising from red to yellow, Zenitsu and his triangles, Nezuko, Tomioka and Tanjiro. The sheerness of the chiffon serves these patterns: a gradient of flames or a veined veil loses a lot on opaque cotton and regains its lightness here.

The first cape, at €54.90, comes in seven sizes from XS to XXXL, the second, at €79.90, with more drooping sleeves, in six sizes from XS to XXL. As the cut is open, the size mainly affects the length and the width of the sleeves, and a size mistake is much less serious than with a swimsuit. Our article on the patterns of the Demon Slayer haori explains what each fabric tells, and our Shinobu Kocho Demon Slayer collection gathers the items with butterfly wings.

The haori cape is also useful away from the beach. Worn over a vest top and shorts, it makes a light summer outfit for an evening out or a festival, and recalls the series without being a costume. Folded, it fits in a bag pocket and weighs almost nothing. Our page on the Demon Slayer Hashira presents those whose fabric the capes take up.

Choosing your size

Sizes are not read the same way from one model to another. Some swimsuits are chosen by letter, others by height or measurements in centimetres, the swim shorts by weight. Before ordering, measure your chest, waist and hips with a tape measure, and note your height and weight. Measure and rely on the sizes on the product page: that is where each model’s size correspondences are given.

For a swimsuit, a model that is too big gapes in the water, one that is too small marks and squeezes. If you are between two sizes, choose the larger for a one-piece, which must cover the torso along its whole length, and the smaller for a tie bikini, whose ties make up the difference. For a haori cape, simply take your usual size.

For a child, Muichiro’s board shorts and the 殺 character swim shorts both start at 100 cm: choose the size matching their height, or the next one up if they are growing fast, since swim shorts are happily worn a little loose. Our page on Demon Slayer for children gives other guidelines by age.

Beach towels

The eighteen beach towels share the same construction. Their fabric is a printed polyester, flat and thin, without the loops of cotton terry. The surface stays smooth, and sand comes off with a single shake instead of clinging to the fibres. Folded, the towel takes up the volume of a rolled jumper and little room in a beach bag. The print covers the whole surface, from edge to edge, and the edges are simply finished, with no fringe to catch the sand.

Kyojuro Rengoku, the Flame Hashira, launched into a wave of flames, Demon Slayer

Six formats are offered, with a price that follows the surface area. The 50 x 100 cm, at €29.90, serves as a hand or pool towel. The 70 x 140 cm, at €39.90, corresponds to an ordinary bath towel. The 80 x 160 cm, at €44.90, covers a sun lounger by the pool. The three large formats, 100 x 180 cm at €54.90, 120 x 180 cm at €64.90 and 140 x 180 cm at €69.90, unfold on the sand for one or two people.

Polyester absorbs less than thick cotton terry, but it dries much faster: a towel laid in the sun is dry in no time and goes back into the bag without any damp. It is the ideal towel for a beach day with several swims, or for a trip where you want light luggage.

Choosing your towel’s design

Tanjiro is the most present: in a green wave scattered with pink petals, under a purple moon behind cherry branches, or under a dragon of flames above a shrine roof. Inosuke has three towels, on a golden wood background, with his name in Japanese characters above bursting blue water, and in black line work on a white background. Rengoku has two, a half-length portrait and a flat field of flames printed across the width.

The demons are well represented: Akaza in red, black and beige, Doma in portrait on a dark red background, with his rainbow irises and his smile. Yoriichi has his towel on a solid red background. Group towels complete the section: the trio under the red moon, Nezuko and Tanjiro side by side, four chibis on a pink and cherry blossom background, a water and thunder poster, a water and fire collage, a collage around the logo, and four gazes in bands on a black background.

For a child, the chibis on a light background and the Nezuko and Tanjiro diptych are the gentlest. For a teenager, the demon portraits or the gazes in bands have more impact. Our page on the Demon Slayer demons presents Akaza, Doma and the other Moons, and our Akaza Demon Slayer collection gathers the items of the demon with blue markings. Our Inosuke Hashibira Demon Slayer collection and our Kyojuro Rengoku Demon Slayer collection gather the items matching their towels, and our page on all the Demon Slayer characters helps you choose.

Giyu Tomioka’s hand towel

For the home, a from €17.90 microfibre hand towel comes in fifteen designs around Giyu Tomioka: in chibi style surrounded by flowers, in the middle of a wave, beside a laughing Tanjiro, with a fox mask, in front of a bowl, and several portraits. Microfibre absorbs a lot for its thinness, dries quickly and takes up little space, in exchange for a less fluffy feel than cotton terry.

Giyu Tomioka, the Water Hashira, with a grave blue gaze, Demon Slayer

Its loop is sewn into a corner, not in the middle of an edge: the hand towel hangs as a diamond, point down, which exposes more surface to the air and lets the water run down to the point. It thus dries faster between uses, in a windowless bathroom as above a sink. It is machine washed at 30 °C, without fabric softener, which would clog the fibres. Our Giyu Tomioka Demon Slayer collection gathers the other items of the Water Hashira.

Care after the beach

Salt, chlorine and sun are the three enemies of a printed swimsuit. Rinse it in clean water after each swim, especially in the sea: salt left to dry stiffens the fabric and eats away the colours. Dry it in the shade rather than in full sun, which fades pinks and yellows first. The board shorts are machine washed at 30 °C, inside out.

The chiffon haori capes are washed by hand, in cold water: the machine would break the fine fibres and dull the gradients. They dry flat in a few minutes, with no wringing or ironing. The beach towels are machine washed at 30 °C, inside out, without fabric softener, which leaves a film on synthetic fibres and reduces their ability to absorb water. No tumble dryer: polyester does not handle dry heat well.

At the end of the season, store swimsuits and towels clean and fully dry, away from light. A swimsuit stored damp takes on a smell that is hard to get rid of, and a towel folded while still wet gets marked.

Budget and delivery

The smallest budget is Giyu’s hand towel from €17.90, then the 50 x 100 cm beach towel at €29.90. The basic two-piece and one-piece swimsuits cost €29.90, the swim shorts €39.90, the bikini €44.90, the outfit swimsuits €49.90, the haori capes €54.90 and €79.90, the high-waisted swimsuit €64.90 and the ruffled one-piece €69.90. A large beach towel costs from €54.90 to €79.90.

For a complete set, a €29.90 swimsuit and a 100 x 180 cm towel at €54.90 come to €84.80. Our guide to Demon Slayer gifts by budget offers other ideas. Items are delivered in 5 to 12 days depending on where you live: before going on holiday, order at least two weeks in advance.
