Haganezuka chases Tanjiro for his damaged swords

Hotaru Haganezuka is the bladesmith in charge of Tanjiro's swords. In Demon Slayer, he takes it very poorly when he sees his blades damaged and even goes so far as to chase Tanjiro with knives after further damage occurs. This recurring anger turns every returned broken or lost sword into an additional problem for Tanjiro, who is already used to mistreating his equipment during fights. Haganezuka takes his work seriously enough to consider every damaged blade a personal offense.

The red-handled katana pen remains a decorative miniature, but its sword shape allows one to reflect on the relationship between Tanjiro and Haganezuka. The black body, white characters, and red handle belong to the pen; the black blade, however, comes from the story. Behind every one of Tanjiro's new blades is a craftsman whose patience vanishes as soon as he realizes what the Demon Slayer has done to his work yet again. The sword thus also becomes a recurring link between the two characters.

Twenty centimeters of painted metal

Twenty centimeters in total, including 16.5 cm of metal body and 5 cm of handle topped with its handguard. The body mimics the color of the character's scabbard, the handle its wrapping, and the handguard its shape: round, hexagonal, or floral depending on the model. Japanese characters are inscribed along the blade, just like on the swords in Demon Slayer. The assembly is held together by a screw thread, without glue or plastic clips.

The weight of the metal changes the grip: the pen is heavier than a standard school model and is held higher, near the handguard, which is better suited for signatures and short notes rather than three hours of lecture. An additional refill accompanies the pen, and the body unscrews to change it. For a student's pencil case, an ordinary pen is better; this one is better kept for the office or for a shelf, where it stands upright in a pencil holder without going unnoticed.
