Demon Slayer ring: which one to choose?

In short

The section has forty-two Demon Slayer rings, all adjustable to your finger. Twenty-nine enamel head rings, at €19.90, show a character’s face, from the nine Hashira to the Twelve Kizuki. Twelve open enamel bands, at €17.90, wrap a character’s colours all the way round. A two-butterfly ring, at €119.90, pays tribute to the Kocho sisters. Here is how to choose yours, adjust it and care for it.

Tanjiro Kamado from the front, his two hanafuda earrings clearly visible, Demon Slayer

In Demon Slayer, characters are recognised by a few signs: a scar on the forehead, a butterfly hair clip, a bamboo muzzle, a boar’s head, a mane of flames. A ring takes up these signs in miniature, enough for a fan to recognise them at first glance, discreetly enough to be worn every day, at work as at school. It is the cheapest piece of jewellery in the section and the one that covers the most characters.

This guide helps you choose among the three families of rings: enamel heads, open bands and the butterfly ring. It then explains how to adjust the band, which finger to wear it on, how to match it with other jewellery and how to keep it for a long time. To compare rings with necklaces, bracelets and earrings, our guide to Demon Slayer jewellery covers the whole section, and all our buying advice is gathered on the shop’s guides and advice page.

Which rings are in the section?

The forty-two rings fall into three families. The largest is that of the enamel head rings: a thin silver-coloured band, topped with a small enamel character head about one centimetre across. Twenty-nine characters are offered, sixteen on the demon slayers’ side and thirteen on the demons’ side. Each ring comes in a small transparent case, so it can be given as it is.

The second family is that of the open enamel bands. Here, no face: the motif goes all the way round the band and takes up a character’s colours and signs, Rengoku’s flames, Obanai’s scales, Rui’s spider web. Eleven characters are offered, plus one model without a character, with a blue wave and a red flame. The third family consists of a single piece, the butterfly ring, more elaborate, with two enamel butterflies.

Family Models Adjustment Price
Enamel head rings twenty-nine characters, demon slayers and demons thin band open at the back 19,90 €
Open enamel bands eleven characters and a wave and flame model open band, one size 17,90 €
Butterfly ring two pink and purple enamel butterflies, in tribute to the Kocho sisters open band, one size 119,90 €

All the rings are gathered in our Demon Slayer ring section, and all the jewellery in our Demon Slayer jewellery section.

A face or colours

The enamel head shows the character, the open band suggests it through its colours and motifs.

The enamel head rings

An enamel head ring is a character’s face reduced to one centimetre. Enamel is a vitrified material, laid in solid colours between fine metal ridges that draw the outlines. At this size, the design can keep only two or three signs, and they are the ones the series made famous: the colour of the hair, that of the eyes, an accessory. The head is fixed flat on top of the band and does not stick out at the sides, which keeps it from catching on a sleeve or a pocket.

The band is the same for all twenty-nine models, thin and silver-coloured, open at the back. This is what lets you wear several rings side by side, on two neighbouring fingers or on the same hand, without them getting in each other’s way. Many fans wear two or three at once, a duo of characters or a small group, the way you pin several badges on a bag.

The transparent case each ring comes in is also used for storage: the enamel head does not get scratched at the bottom of a bag or a drawer. For a gift, it saves you looking for a jewellery box. And from €17.90 a ring, it is easy to give several at once, or to add one to another present.

The heads of the demon slayers and Hashira

On the demon slayers’ side, the main trio is there. Tanjiro has his forehead scar and the fox mask Urokodaki gave him before the Final Selection, pushed up against his temple. Nezuko has her long black hair with orange tips, her pink eyes and her green bamboo muzzle. Zenitsu has his blond hair fading to orange and a sparrow perched on his head, Chuntaro, the bird that follows him everywhere. Inosuke wears his grey boar’s head, his green eyes visible underneath.

Each accessory refers to the character’s story. Tanjiro’s fox mask marks the end of his two years of training on Mount Sagiri, with Urokodaki. Zenitsu’s sparrow is the messenger bird that accompanies him from mission to mission, while the other demon slayers have a crow. Inosuke’s boar’s head recalls that he was raised by boars in the mountains. Fans recognise these details even at one centimetre.

All nine Hashira are offered. Tomioka and his navy blue hair, Rengoku and his yellow and red mane, Shinobu and her butterfly ornament, Mitsuri and her pink braids with green tips, Muichiro and his turquoise locks, Tengen and his jewelled headband, Obanai and the white snake coiled around his neck, Sanemi and his scar-crossed face, Gyomei and his prayer beads. Gathering all nine on one hand, or on the hands of nine friends, is a project that often comes up among fans.

Three more discreet characters complete the series. Kanae Kocho, Shinobu’s older sister and former Flower Hashira. Sabito, Urokodaki’s pupil, with his fox mask worn to the side and the scar on his cheek. And Makomo, his companion, with her white mask decorated with blue flowers. Our article on Sabito and Makomo tells their story, and our page on the Demon Slayer Hashira presents the nine. Our Demon Slayer Corps collection gathers their other items.

The heads of the demons

Muzan Kibutsuji, white hat and red eyes, at night in an Asakusa street, Demon Slayer

The demons’ side has thirteen rings, and it is one of the few jewellery series that gives them so much room. Muzan Kibutsuji is the only head wearing a hat: a light hat with a red ribbon, set low on his black hair, under which his red eyes shine. It is the outfit he wears when Tanjiro first crosses paths with him in the streets of Asakusa, blended into the crowd, a woman and a little girl at his side.

The Upper Moons are all there. Kokushibo and his long burgundy hair, with golden eyes. Doma and his cream hair, with an eye iridescent with several colours. Akaza and his pink hair, his face striped with blue. Hantengu and his two pale horns. Gyokko and the third eye in the middle of his forehead. Nakime and the single eye of her face. Daki and her voluminous white hair, Gyutaro and his pale green hair, offered separately in the section.

Akaza and Doma, side by side, with a mocking look, during the meeting of the Upper Moons, Demon Slayer

The demons of the first arcs also have their ring, and a former demon slayer joins them. Rui, the spider demon of Mount Natagumo, with very pale blond hair and the markings on his cheek. Kyogai, the drum demon, with his pale, veined face. Yahaba, the demon with eyes in his palms, whom Tanjiro faces at Tamayo’s house with his accomplice Susamaru. Kaigaku, Jigoro’s former disciple turned demon, arrives later in the story, with his wide grin, at the rank of Upper Moon Six. Our page on the Demon Slayer demons presents them all, and our article on the Twelve Kizuki details their rank.

For a fan who prefers the opponents to the heroes, our Demon Slayer demon collection and our Muzan Kibutsuji collection gather their figures, posters and clothing.

The open enamel bands

The twelve open bands work differently. The motif goes all the way round the band, so the ring can be read from any angle, and the opening is adjusted by hand. No face: the character’s colours and motifs identify them. It is the ring to choose for a wink only fans will spot, at the office or anywhere a character’s face would be too visible.

Enamel head or open band? The head can be read from a distance, the band is discovered up close. The first appeals to fans who want to show their character, the second to those who prefer a piece first taken for a simple colourful ring. The head costs €19.90, the band €17.90, and both can be worn together: Shinobu’s head on the index finger and Shinobu’s striped band on the middle finger make a matching pair.

Kyojuro Rengoku, the Flame Hashira, smiling amid the flames, Demon Slayer

Rengoku’s is the most covering: red flames rise around the whole circumference of a gold band, with a fire emblem on top. Shinobu’s is the lightest, striped with aqua green, pink and white, with a butterfly perched across the opening. Tomioka’s takes up both sides of his haori, green and yellow cubes on one side, a white wave on a blue background on the other. Obanai’s is white, covered with grey scales, and closes on a snake’s head.

Nezuko’s alternates a pink background with hemp leaves, a brown and white checkerboard and a red piece. Zenitsu’s is bright yellow, crossed with white lightning bolts. Inosuke’s is cut into a boar’s head, with its ears and snout. Sabito’s is salmon pink, crossed with diagonal bands, with two fox mask eyes. On the demons’ side, Akaza has a square red stone, Daki a pink background with sash patterns and a green stone, Rui an engraved spider web.

The twelfth band has no character: it is black all the way round, with a blue wave at one end and a red flame at the other, Water Breathing facing Flame Breathing. It is the most understated model in the series. Our page on the Demon Slayer breathing styles explains where these two styles come from, and our Kyojuro Rengoku Demon Slayer collection gathers the other flame items.

The Kocho sisters’ butterfly ring

Kanae Kocho, Shinobu’s older sister, a butterfly hair clip in her hair, Demon Slayer

The butterfly ring is the most elaborate piece in the section, at €119.90. Two butterflies alight, offset, on a thin silver-coloured band, one large, the other smaller, as if they had just stopped there in mid-flight. Their enamelled wings shade from pink to purple, and their veins are underlined with a fine line of metal. The large butterfly covers the top of the finger, the small one rests just beside it.

Two butterflies for two sisters. The butterfly is the sign of the Kocho family: kocho means butterfly in Japanese. Kanae, the elder, the Flower Hashira, is killed by Doma. Before dying, she asks Shinobu to leave the Demon Slayer Corps and live an ordinary life. Shinobu refuses, keeps her sister’s smile and prepares her revenge for years with wisteria poison. Kanao, the adoptive little sister the two had taken in, finishes what they had begun.

The ring stays discreet for those who do not know the series and speaks at once to fans of the Kocho sisters. It is a gift for a friend who loves Shinobu, Kanae or Kanao, or to mark a date. Our article on Kanae Kocho, the Flower Hashira tells her story, and our Shinobu Kocho Demon Slayer collection gathers the other butterfly items.

Adjusting your ring and choosing the finger

No ring in the section has a size to choose: they all adjust to your finger. The enamel heads have a band open at the back, the enamel bands and the butterfly ring a visible opening. To adjust it, put the ring on the chosen finger and gently close or open the two ends between your thumb and index finger, without forcing, until it holds without squeezing. Do it once, then leave it that way: metal bent back and forth too often ends up weakening. For the butterfly ring, adjust it from the back of the band, away from the wings, so you never press on the enamel.

The finger depends on the effect you are after. On the index finger, the ring is most visible, the right choice for an enamel head you want to show. On the middle and ring fingers, it is more discreet. Thin bands can also be worn as midi rings, halfway up the finger, a way of stacking them with another ring. For a child or teenager with slim fingers, the band closes enough to stay on the little finger or the ring finger of a small hand.

If the ring is a gift, there is no need to know the finger size: the opening is adjusted afterwards, by the person themselves. It is one of the advantages of this section for a gift sent from afar or a surprise.

Choosing by character

The simplest way is to start from the favourite character. For a Tanjiro fan, the enamel head with the fox mask. For a Nezuko fan, the head with the bamboo muzzle or the band with hemp leaves. For those who love Rengoku, the flame band or the head with the mane. For a demon lover, Muzan with his hat, Akaza with his striped face or Doma with his iridescent eye. Our page on all the Demon Slayer characters helps you put a name to each face.

The rings also lend themselves to duos. Tanjiro and Nezuko for a brother and a sister, Sabito and Makomo for two training friends, Akaza and Rengoku for two opponents from the Mugen Train, Kokushibo and Muzan for the two most feared demons. Two enamel heads come to €39.80. For a group of friends who follow the series together, each can also choose their Hashira: nine rings make a joint gift for a birthday or the end of the year. Our Tanjiro Kamado Demon Slayer collection gathers the rest of the hero’s outfit.

On a small budget, rings are among the easiest gifts to slip into an envelope or a goody bag. Our selection of Demon Slayer gifts under €20 offers others, and our article on gifts by budget gives ideas at every price.

Matching the ring with other jewellery

Among fans, a ring is rarely worn alone. The necklaces in the section feature the same characters, as medallions, steel plates or hanafuda pendants, and the braided cord or glass bead bracelets take up their colours. A Shinobu enamel head goes well with a butterfly necklace, a Rengoku band with a flame cord bracelet. Our Demon Slayer necklaces and our Demon Slayer bracelets can be chosen by the same character.

Earrings complete the set. Tanjiro’s, the hanafuda with the rising sun, are the best known in the series, inherited from his father. Our article on Tanjiro’s hanafuda earrings tells their story, and our Demon Slayer earring section offers them alongside those of the other characters. Our guides to the Demon Slayer necklace and the Demon Slayer bracelet detail each family.

Care and delivery

Enamel is sturdy but does not like knocks. Take the ring off to wash your hands, do the dishes, swim or play sport: water and soap tarnish the silver-coloured metal, and a knock against a hard surface can chip the enamel. Do not wear it either while applying cream or perfume, which leave a film on the enamel head. If the band loses its shape from being taken off and put on, restore its round shape by gently rolling it around a thick pen, rather than pinching it between your fingers.

To clean it, wipe it with a soft, dry cloth, without any product. Store it in its transparent case or in a small pouch, separate from other jewellery, so that no metal scratches the enamel. A well-stored ring keeps its bright colours for years. The rings are delivered in 5 to 12 days depending on where you live. Our page on Demon Slayer merchandise gives other tips for collecting and giving.
