In short
In Demon Slayer, heights range from 1.35 m for Rui to 2.20 m for Gyomei, the giant of the Corps. Tanjiro is 1.65 m tall, Nezuko 1.53 m, Zenitsu 1.64 m and Inosuke 1.64 m. Among the Hashira, Tengen tops out at 1.98 m, while Shinobu is only 1.51 m. Demons vary even more: Kokushibo is 1.90 m tall, Muzan 1.79 m, and some, like Nezuko or Hantengu, change size at will.

You do not always notice it on screen, but the Demon Slayer characters have very different builds. Koyoharu Gotouge’s drawing and ufotable’s animation often bring the silhouettes closer together, and you have to see Gyomei next to Tanjiro, or Shinobu next to Tengen, to measure the gap. These differences matter: they show who hits hard, who hits fast, and who has to find another way to fight.
Here are the height and weight of the Demon Slayer characters, according to the figures published by the author in her fanbooks: the heroes, the Hashira and the demons, from the shortest to the tallest. Our page on all the Demon Slayer characters presents each of them, and our article on the age of the Demon Slayer characters completes these profiles.
The height of the heroes
The main trio are almost the same height, which shows when they stand shoulder to shoulder. Tanjiro Kamado is 1.65 m tall and weighs 61 kg, Zenitsu Agatsuma 1.645 m and 58 kg, Inosuke Hashibira 1.64 m and 63 kg. Inosuke is the shortest of the three and the heaviest, which matches his all-muscle body, toughened by a childhood in the mountains.
Nezuko is 1.53 m tall at her normal size and weighs 45 kg, but she spends a good part of the series smaller: she shrinks to the size of a child to fit in her wooden box. Kanao Tsuyuri is 1.56 m tall, barely more than Nezuko: the heroines of the series are rather short, which makes Mitsuri’s strength even more striking. Genya Shinazugawa is the giant of the group, at 1.80 m and 76 kg, taller than most of the Hashira. Our article on the Tanjiro, Zenitsu and Inosuke trio tells how these three became inseparable.
| Character | Height | Weight |
|---|---|---|
| Nezuko Kamado | 1.53 m | 45 kg |
| Kanao Tsuyuri | 1.56 m | 46 kg |
| Inosuke Hashibira | 1.64 m | 63 kg |
| Zenitsu Agatsuma | 1.645 m | 58 kg |
| Tanjiro Kamado | 1.65 m | 61 kg |
| Genya Shinazugawa | 1.80 m | 76 kg |
Three boys of the same height
Tanjiro, Zenitsu and Inosuke are all about 1.64 m tall: in Demon Slayer, the trio stands out for its character, not its build.
The height of the Hashira, from shortest to tallest
The nine Hashira have very varied builds, and the table ranks them from shortest to tallest. Shinobu Kocho, the Insect Hashira, is the shortest at 1.51 m and 37 kg. Gyomei Himejima, the Stone Hashira, is the tallest at 2.20 m and 130 kg. Between them, almost 70 centimetres and nearly 100 kilos of difference.
| Hashira | Height | Weight |
|---|---|---|
| Shinobu Kocho | 1.51 m | 37 kg |
| Muichiro Tokito | 1.60 m | 56 kg |
| Obanai Iguro | 1.62 m | 53 kg |
| Mitsuri Kanroji | 1.67 m | 56 kg |
| Giyu Tomioka | 1.76 m | 69 kg |
| Kyojuro Rengoku | 1.77 m | 72 kg |
| Sanemi Shinazugawa | 1.79 m | 75 kg |
| Tengen Uzui | 1.98 m | 95 kg |
| Gyomei Himejima | 2.20 m | 130 kg |
This ranking explains a lot about the way they fight. Shinobu, too light to cut through a demon’s neck, invented poison. Obanai, short and thin, relies on speed and on the unpredictable curves of his wavy blade. Gyomei, for his part, wields an axe and a flail joined by a chain that no one else could lift. Our page on the nine Hashira of Demon Slayer presents their weapons and styles.
Seventy centimetres apart
Between Shinobu, 1.51 m, and Gyomei, 2.20 m, there are nearly 70 centimetres: in Demon Slayer, each Hashira fights with the body they have.
Gyomei and Tengen, the two giants
Gyomei Himejima is the tallest human character in Demon Slayer. At 2.20 m and 130 kg, he stands a head above all the other Hashira, and his build impresses even demons. During the Hashira Training, he makes every recruit push a boulder for about a hundred metres, a test he passes himself with no apparent effort. Blind, he often cries and prays constantly, which contrasts with his power: he is the strongest of the Hashira, and he remains so until the last night. Our article on Gyomei Himejima, the Stone Hashira tells his story.
Tengen Uzui, the Sound Hashira, comes next at 1.98 m and 95 kg, twenty centimetres more than Kyojuro Rengoku or Giyu Tomioka. A former shinobi, he loves everything spectacular, and his height goes with it: a jewelled headband, make-up, two giant cleavers strapped to his back. Our article on Tengen Uzui, the Sound Hashira tells the story of this flamboyant giant.
Our 30 cm Tengen figure, purple scarf in the wind, does justice to his giant silhouette, in the Tengen Uzui collection.

Shinobu Kocho is 1.51 m tall and weighs 37 kg, which makes her the shortest and lightest of the Hashira. Her size is at the heart of her story: she lacks the strength to cut through a demon’s neck, the only way to kill one with a sword. Rather than give up, she developed a wisteria-based poison and a slender sword that injects it. She is the only Hashira who kills demons without cutting off their heads.
Her weight gives her another advantage: speed. Shinobu is one of the fastest fighters in the Corps, able to strike several times before a demon reacts. Against Doma, Upper Moon Two, she even uses her body as a weapon, having saturated it with poison for months. Our article on Shinobu Kocho, the Insect Hashira tells her journey, and our 18 cm figure shows her with her blade drawn, in the Shinobu Kocho collection.

The demons of Demon Slayer are often taller than the demon slayers who face them. Kokushibo, Upper Moon One, is 1.90 m tall, and Doma, Upper Moon Two, 1.87 m. Akaza, Upper Moon Three, is closer to an average human at 1.73 m. Muzan himself is 1.79 m tall in his usual form as an elegant man.
The figures hold a few surprises when compared with the great duels. On the Mugen Train, Akaza, 1.73 m, is shorter than Kyojuro Rengoku, 1.77 m, and yet he dominates him from start to finish: a demon’s strength does not depend on its size but on the number of humans it has devoured. In the Infinity Castle, Kokushibo, 1.90 m, faces Gyomei, 2.20 m, one of the few fighters taller than him, and he needs all his technique to keep him at a distance. Our article on Akaza, Upper Moon Three tells of the fight on the train.
| Demon | Height | Weight |
|---|---|---|
| Rui | 1.35 m | 30 kg |
| Tamayo | 1.50 m | 40 kg |
| Gyokko | 1.50 m, 1.70 m after shedding his skin | 40 kg, then 80 kg |
| Hantengu | 1.66 m | 56 kg |
| Enmu | 1.68 m | 62 kg |
| Akaza | 1.73 m | 74 kg |
| Muzan Kibutsuji | 1.79 m | 75 kg |
| Doma | 1.87 m | 86 kg |
| Kokushibo | 1.90 m | 93 kg |
The smallest demons are far from being the least formidable. Rui, with his 1.35 m child’s body, is one of the most dangerous Lower Moons in the series. Tamayo, barely 1.50 m, is the only female demon able to stand up to Muzan with science. Our page on Muzan and the Twelve Kizuki presents the whole demon hierarchy.
Those who change size
Some Demon Slayer characters have no fixed size. Nezuko can grow and shrink at will: she shrinks to the size of a little girl to travel in her box, returns to her normal size to fight, and grows even more in her awakened form, when plant patterns appear on her skin. Our article on Nezuko’s awakened form tells of this transformation.
Muzan changes his appearance to hide: he lives in turn as an elegant man, as a child adopted by a wealthy family, and as a woman in the Entertainment District. Hantengu, Upper Moon Four, is the most astonishing case. His old man’s body splits into ever larger and more powerful clones, but his real body, which must be found to kill him, is tiny and hides like a mouse. Gyokko, finally, sheds his skin during the fight and grows 20 centimetres, almost doubling his weight. Our article on Hantengu, Upper Moon Four tells of this fight.
A size that lies
In Demon Slayer, a demon’s size says nothing about its strength: Hantengu’s real body is tiny, and it is the one that must be cut.
What height changes in fights
Demon Slayer takes care to make each character’s body count in the way they fight. Mitsuri Kanroji, 1.67 m and 56 kg, looks like an ordinary young woman, but her muscles are eight times denser than normal: she lifts loads no man in the Corps could carry, and her flexible blade lets her strike from several metres away. Her strength cannot be read in her silhouette, and that is the whole principle of the character. Our article on Mitsuri Kanroji, the Love Hashira tells her story.
Inosuke, short and compact, uses the flexibility of his body: he can dislocate his joints to squeeze through narrow openings or dodge impossible blows. Zenitsu, light, bets everything on the speed of his single thunder move. Tanjiro, of average height, relies on his sense of smell to detect the opening in his opponent. And Genya, the tallest of the young demon slayers, makes up for his inability to master a breathing style with a gun and the strength he borrows from demons by eating them.
Against the Upper Moons, these differences often fade before numbers: it takes three or four fighters to overcome a demon like Kokushibo or Doma. That is the great lesson of the Infinity Castle, where the smallest, Shinobu, Kanao, Muichiro, play a role as decisive as the giants. Our article on the Infinity Castle arc tells of these fights, and the Hashira figure collection gathers the nine fighters, from the shortest to the tallest.
Strength cannot be seen
Mitsuri weighs 56 kg but her muscles are eight times denser than normal: in Demon Slayer, the silhouette never tells the whole story of strength.
What use are these figures to a fan?
Knowing the height of the characters is mainly useful for two things. For a cosplay, it is a reference point: a tall build will make a more convincing Tengen or Gyomei, a slight figure a Shinobu or a Nezuko. But nothing stops you from wearing the character you love: at a convention, people will recognise you by the character’s haori and colours, not by your height. Simply remember to measure the person who will wear the costume and rely on the sizes shown on the product page.
For a group, differences in height even become an asset. A trio where the tallest plays Gyomei, the shortest Shinobu and a child Nezuko reproduces the proportions of the series, and the photos are all the better for it. Children, for their part, are the heroes’ age: at ten or twelve, a boy is almost the height of Tanjiro in the first chapter, and a girl that of Nezuko in her box. Our guide to Demon Slayer cosplay details the child and adult sizes.
For a figure collection, these figures explain why Gyomei always dominates the display case, even at the same scale as the others. Our article on the Demon Slayer figure guide helps you put a shelf together, and the Demon Slayer figure collection gathers every format.
