Discover this Obanai Demon Slayer Scarf - Black and White Stripes, designed for winter. This scarf features a long, narrow format, double-sided printing, wide black and white lengthwise stripes, and a one-size-fits-all design.
Wide, bold black and white stripes run lengthwise, without any gradient. At one end, two thin lines interrupt the stripes. It is the simplest of the fifteen patterns and the most visible from a distance.
The simplest pattern, the hardest story
These stripes belong to Obanai, the Serpent Hashira. Two colors, no ornamentation: it is the most minimalist haori in the series, covering the most violent childhood in the story.
Obanai was born into a family that had been feeding a demon for generations, living off what it brought back. Children there were raised for this very purpose. He escaped, and bears a facial scar from it which he hides under bandages, visible as soon as he removes them. The rest of his life is defined by this escape: he joins the Demon Slayer Corps, rises to the rank of Hashira, and continues to consider himself someone who has no right to be happy. He loves another Hashira for years without ever telling her once. Two colors are enough to identify him, and that is almost too little.
Lengthwise stripes
The stripes follow the length rather than the width, which further elongates an already narrow scarf, and it is the only model in the series whose pattern does not read differently depending on how it is tied. Black and white, it goes with just about anything, making it arguably the easiest of the fifteen to match. The two thin lines at one end are the only variation in the pattern: they mark the hem of the original garment.
The scarf is significantly narrower than a standard winter scarf, and significantly longer. It ties flat against the neck instead of adding bulk, and fits under a coat collar without distorting it. This format comes from the original garment: a haori is worn open, letting two strips of fabric fall on either side of the torso, and a simple, narrow tied scarf recreates this silhouette, whereas a wide scarf would overwhelm it. The print covers both sides, so the pattern remains visible regardless of how it is tied, and there is no reverse side to worry about. One size fits all. Two colors, and nothing more needed.
